Teaching Trip to Africa

Namikango Maternity Clinic, which I helped build in 1973-74. A new labor ward is being added. About 60 babies a month are born here.
The back side of the clinic. There is a radio link with the Zomba hospital 10 miles away, in case phones fail and a case has to be referred.
Another view. This clinic has earned commendations from the government.
Two members of the maternity staff. One of these ladies I hired when the clinic opened in 1974 and she is still there.
There are several midwives' houses like this one.
A private ward has recently been added, named in honor of Peggy Wilks.
This building houses expectant mothers whose time is near, and relatives who come to prepare food for them (the clinic does not provide food). This building originally was the main residence when this land was an agricultural estate.
