Meet Chief Sanjika, village chief over the land surrounding the mission. He is a Muslim. He was chief when we bought the mission property in 1961. He always comes around when he hears that there is a visitor from the States. He expects an honor gift. On one of my visits I said to him, "I am glad to see you again." He answered, "How do I know you are glad to see me?" He wanted me to give him something. But we have gotten along with him well. |

One of my best experiences during the Malawi visit was
an evening spent with Rodrick Maluwa and his family. The asked me to come
to their home in the village for supper. After eating, Rodrick called
his children and they sang Christian songs for me. I told them a Bible
story. We prayed together. They gave me a gift. This is an outstanding
family. Rodrick will have an important role in the mission work. Pray
for them that they will long be a strong influence for Christ.

Jones Solomon worked for many years as part of the mission staff. After appeals from neighboring Mozambique, Solomon was chosen to head an outreach near Mozambique's border with Malawi. |
|
Solomon came to the preachers' meeting along with two
Mozambican church leaders.

Lendal and I met with Solomon and the leaders, and again with Solomon alone, gaining an understanding of the needs in the Mozambique outreach and defining our roles and future plans. |
