Teaching Trip to Africa

Jim and Kathy Albright (seen here with their two daughters) replaced Ruth and me when we left Malawi in 1980. They worked with Namikango for 10 or more years, then began working with SAFE Ministries, an effort to promote Biblical morality in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
For years we have wanted to produce a concordance for the Chichewa Bible. This would greatly open up scripture for Malawians. Jim is skilled in computer science and publishing. He oversaw some early work on the concordance years ago (including keying the whole Chichewa Bible into computer and researching what program would be required). But Jim has been distracted by other responsibilities until now. He has just resigned from SAFE Ministries to return to the States. I met with Jim and Lendal to discuss the steps remaining to complete the concordance. Now the work is underway.
Jim wrote a computer program that can spit out a rough draft concordance in minutes. He printed out the thousands of pages and brought them to the mission in the trunk of his car. We are hiring a team of Malawian workers to edit down the entries into a reasonably-sized book and enter the edits into computer. Jim will then refine the results and the concordance will be ready for publishing. **We need contributors for the initial publishing cost. Click here for details.
