Teaching Trip to Africa

I visited with Lendal Wilks about many mission concerns and came back from Malawi with a much clearer grasp of the needs and future direction of the Malawi mission work. We elders at New Beginnings are responsible for that program.
Too soon for me it came time to load my bags into the car for the trip to the airport. It had been a wonderful month.
Brother Baison Thuthuli, one of my old time associates in the gospel work, asked to accompany us to the airport.
I got to enjoy this sunset on the flight toward home.
Mark and Era Thiesen, an excellent young missionary couple, have come under our sponsorship and will accompany Lendal and Peggy Wilks to Malawi in November, 2003, at the close of the Wilkses' current home leave. Lendal and Peggy need to retire soon but are willing to overlap Mark and Era until 2005 to acquaint them with the work. Mark is the son of long-time Malawi missionaries John and Ann Thiesen. He grew up conversing with Malawian children in Chitumbuka, the language in Northern Malawi. Therefore Chichewa will come easily for him. Mark and Era have previous mission experience in Eastern Europe. We believe God has given us the people who are exactly right for this position.

**Mark and Era still need to raise about $2,000 a month in financial support, plus travel expense. We hope God will move congregations and individuals to step forward and together support the gospel in this way. Click here for details.
