Nuggets 22:  Ask Me for Anything

What would I answer if God said that to me?  My answer would reveal what I am inside.

Young Solomon had just become king.  He did the best thing he could have done:  he approached God for help.  God answered, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you."  Solomon's answer:  You have made me king in place of my father, but I am not able for this task.  "Give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong."  God was pleased.  "Because you have not asked me for wealth, long life or the death of your enemies, I will give you all those things plus the wisdom you have requested."

When a young person graduates, it is almost as if God were saying to him/her, "You can have anything you choose."  Never have so many paths been open.  God will hold you accountable for your choices, but he does leave you free to choose.  Will you choose selfishness which seems so attractive but will shrivel your life and your relationships?  Or will you choose love and service which will renew you constantly and make the world yours?  Jesus said a couple of things which are hugely important as you start adult life:  "Seek first God's rule and his righteousness and everything else will be yours as well."  And, "Whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it."

Without God you would not be here.  The world will do its best to distract you, but it is only God who holds life, the future and every good thing.
