Old Testament Prophets 1 (Isaiah-Lamentations)

A study of the writings of Isaiah and Jeremiah who prophesied in the Southern kingdom of Judah just before and up to the Babylonian captivity. These prophets warned the people about their unfaithfulness, tried to turn them back from destruction, and promised restoration and blessing after a time of punishment and repentance. Most important to Christians are the prophecies referring to the coming Messiah (Christ) and the words of God about moral, social and religious wrongs very much like those of our time. Seeing how these prophecies were fulfilled will build your faith in God and his word. And reading Isaiah is a beautiful literary experience. A textbook, the NIV Study Bible, will be used (tests will include questions on the explanatory notes in that particular Bible).
