Gospel of Mark

An in-depth study of the life of Jesus as presented in the book of Mark, probably the earliest of our four gospels. With an appreciation of Jesus’ humanity, Mark emphasizes the cross and discipleship, and Jesus as both teacher and suffering Messiah.
Our goal will be to study the historical setting behind the text, the literary features or the shape of the text itself, and hermeneutical questions: What does the text mean for us? How can it be applied to our lives today?
